Dental Implant FAQs

Implant supported or implant retained teeth are the only tooth replacement option that resemble the look, feel and function of natural teeth. Implants give you back almost 99 percent of oral function, allowing you to eat anything you want while looking natural and beautiful within your smile. Most other people will never know you had missing teeth to begin with!

Current research reports that dental implant survival rate is between 95%-97%. Dr. Thornell has found this to be true in his experience over the 15 years he has been placing implants and the 30 years he has been restoring dental implants. This is due to over three decades of dental experience and a 15 year implant specialization, along with the investment in modern dental technologies to improve quality and treatment time.

The dental implant cost varies depending on your unique needs. During your consultation, we will evaluate your mouth and oral structures to give you an estimated dental implant cost.

Whether you have one missing tooth or an entire arch of missing teeth, we have dental implant solutions to accommodate you!

Dr. Thornell has specialized in the placement and restoration of dental implants for over 15 years now. He has been practicing all forms of dentistry, including placing dental implants, for over 30 years as well.

If you have any number of missing teeth you are likely a candidate for dental implants. There is no adult age limit on who can receive dental implants.

If you have been told you don’t have enough bone to support dental implants, you may still be a candidate. Through bone grafting procedures we can rebuild bone in all areas of your mouth to acceptable levels that support implants.

During dental implant surgery we ensure that every area is fully anesthetized that we are providing treatment for. IV conscious sedation also plays a significant role in providing comfort as well as a stress free appointment. The combination of these two modalities provides the most pain free experience anyone can have. Dr. Thornell is certified to provide IV conscious sedation for the ultimate in relaxing, anxiety-free dental care!

By the use of proper surgical protocols into healthy bone as well as adequate maintenance, dental implants have the potential to last you a lifetime. The dental implant tooth or teeth may need to be replaced due to wear or damage to it, but the dental implant itself should last many years.

Your dental implants can be cleaned like your normal teeth. We recommend brushing twice a day and flossing daily, and maintaining a regular hygiene visit schedule with your dentist or implantologist. However, you won’t ever have to worry about them developing a cavity!
